I just read that Luca Maroni has tasted over 200,000 wines since he started his career in 1987.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Luca Maroni, you could say he’s like the Robert Parker for Italy, more or less. He publishes his own annual wine guide and has made up his own rating system, which is a little complex, but innovative. He also writes monthly articles for the Cucina cooking magazine I subscribe to.
I started thinking, is 200,000 wines a lot, or just average?
I taste a lot of wines too, so now I want to start keeping track. I going to put a wine tasting counter on my blog page.
According to my tasting diary, I just made a rough count of 72 wines since the beginning of this year.
This count does not include all the wines I drink at home on an almost daily basis.
So we could bring the count up to about 100.
Wine for thought…
How much does everyone else drink???
